Fennel belongs to the Apiaceae or Umbelliferae family. Its seed is oval and pointed, and light green in colour. The fennel microgreens grow to around 6-7cm / 2½ inches tall. Fennel has a sweet but light aniseed flavour. Fennel sprouts and microgreens have a mild anise flavour and make a great garnish for savory or sweet dishes.
